About us

Porsenna is the mythical Etruscan king, Luchmon of Chiusi, who dared to challenge and beat Rome in 506 BC, who, in these lands, decided to found a city whose name derives from his, Persenna, and to erect his own mausoleum within the mythical “labyrinth of Porsenna”. Pliny the Elder defined him as the one member of the Italic people worthy of going down in history because, in his case, “the vanity of the Italics exceeded that of the foreigners’ kings” ("....namque et Italicum dici convenit, quem fecit sibi Porsina, rex Etruriae, sepulchri causa, simul ut externorum regum vanitas quoque Italis superetur.", in Historia Naturalis XXXVI).

It is a name that evokes standards of excellence, uniqueness and a revival of ancient values. It encapsulates the poetic vision of a project that arises from the green of Tuscany and the ochre of the rich Siena earth, just a few steps from the “Arbia stained with crimson” after the battle of Montaperti in 1260 as described in Dante’s Comedy.

It is in these lands and in this tradition that our company was born.

A culture of excellence guides us, not least in our selection of wines and food that we offer our clientele, products that are unique from an Italian and an international perspective.
